Industrial heat site data pool

Anonymised heat and electricity data from real factories, pooled so that integration studies stop starting from an annual average.

Industrial decarbonisation studies are routinely built on annual averages and standard load profiles, because measured site data is commercially sensitive and nobody shares it. The results are correspondingly optimistic, and a plant manager who has been shown three such studies has learned to discount all of them.

This collaboration pools anonymised half-hourly heat and electricity data from participating sites, together with process context, so that integration studies and equipment sizing can be done against realistic profiles — including the shutdowns, weekends and shoulder seasons where the economics are actually decided.

Participants receive the pooled dataset and, more usefully, a benchmark. Knowing how your site's load profile and heat intensity compare to a dozen comparable operations is difficult information to obtain and immediately actionable.

The anonymisation is taken seriously, because it has to be: half-hourly data reveals a great deal about production. Sites are stripped of identifying detail, aggregated where necessary, and reviewed by the contributing site before entering the pool.

How it runs

The mechanics, stated plainly.

  • Contribute metered data

Twelve months of half-hourly electricity and, where metered, heat data, plus a description of the process context. Reviewed and anonymised before pooling.

  • Receive the pool and a benchmark

Access to the anonymised pooled dataset, and a private benchmark report positioning your site against comparable operations.

  • Open profile library

Representative synthetic load profiles derived from the pool are published openly, so that studies elsewhere can stop using annual averages.

What you provide

  • Twelve months of half-hourly metered data, with process context
  • A review of your own anonymised record before it enters the pool
  • A named energy or engineering contact
  • Agreement that derived synthetic profiles may be published

What you get

  • A private benchmark against comparable industrial sites
  • Access to the pooled dataset for your own studies and tenders
  • Integration studies that start from a realistic profile rather than an average
  • A stronger position when assessing an equipment supplier's claims

Terms

Agreed before anybody contributes anything, which is the only moment it works.

  • Site identity is never published, and records are anonymised before pooling
  • Contributing sites review and approve their own anonymised record
  • Only derived synthetic profiles are published openly; raw records stay in the pool
  • A site may withdraw its record at any time, and it is removed from future distributions
